Wendy Andersen

Wendy is the owner and director of Shine Yoga Center, and is a certified teacher of Anusara Yoga. Wendy studies closely with John Friend, Sianna Sherman and Mitchel Bleier and is eternally grateful for their friendship, guidance and support.

Wendy began practicing yoga in 1995 shortly after her graduation from Notre Dame Law School. After working as a corporate litigation attorney for seven years, Wendy retired from the practice of law in 2002 to open Shine and teach yoga full-time.

Wendy's husband Scott introduced her to yoga, and they now share the joy of yoga with their son Luke who was born October 13, 2003. Luke teaches the Baby and Me classes at Shine, and Wendy is his most dedicated student.

Wendy has background in Iyengar Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga, and is now fully committed to the study and practice of Anusara Yoga. She is known for the clarity of her alignment instruction and for her ability to help students connect with their own inner wisdom.



Shalini Latour

Shalini is a certified instructor of Anusara Yoga. She has been a student of John Friend since 1992 and has extensive training and experience in the therapeutic aspects of the practice. She lived in the Shree Muktananda Ashram in upstate New York for 10 years where she practiced meditation, chanting and Yoga and offered her services in the bakery.



Rosanna Juncos

Rosanna is an Anusara Yoga certified teacher and has studied extensively with John Friend, Rodney Yee, Judith Lasater, Sianna Sherman, Mitchel Bleier and many other excellent teachers. She has been an ardent and committed yoga practitioner since 1991 and has been teaching in the Cincinnati area since 1996. Her classes focus on mindfulness and helping students find optimal alignment in the poses, in part so they can reap maximum benefit from their practice, and also because she believes yoga is as much an exercise of consciousness as of the body. She brings her playfulness and love of poetry and philosophy into her classes, liberally sprinkling them with beautiful thoughts and quotes from whatever book she's reading at the time.



Kathleen Noble

As well as being an affiliated Anusara Yoga Teacher, Kathleen is a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and artist. The inspiration for her teaching is rooted in the celebration of movement and the poetry of everyday living. Her hope is to help her students find a deeper level of integration, wellness, and joy. Simply put, she hopes to help her students feel better in their bodies and thus in life!

Kathleen honors the radiant teachers who support her yogic path. John Friend, Sianna Sherman, Mitchel Bleier and the the other teachers of the Shine community continue to be instrumental in the development of her practice and teaching skills. She offers her deepest gratitude to her family, who remind her on a daily basis, what it means to truly celebrate life.



Sue Ellen Eatrides

Sue Ellen has been practicing yoga for ten years and is a certified kids’ yoga instructor. In addition to teaching the KidShine classes at Shine Yoga Center, Sue Ellen also teaches yoga to special groups, like the Girl Scouts, both at Shine and at off-site locations. When not teaching yoga, Sue Ellen paints portraits and landscapes, designs jewelry using black coral, and teaches a variety of subjects at a homeschooling enrichment center. Please contact Shine Yoga Center for more information about bringing a special group to Shine, or to inquire about having Sue Ellen teach KidShine yoga at your child’s daycare, preschool, elementary school or summer camp.



Karen Johns Berger

Karen has been practicing asana for around 10 years, and intends to practice until she’s a happy, silly old lady with well-lubricated joints and a knowing smile. With humility, maturity and humor, she celebrates the wonderful range of bodies, ages and forms in her classes and offers love and acceptance to her students. Clear alignment instruction for the body is complemented by her belief that being aligned in life is reflected in one’s ability to accept life’s twists and turns as the incredible gifts that they are.

Karen trained at Shine with Sianna, Mitchel, Shalini, Wendy, John Friend, and many visiting instructors. She has been teaching for three years, and has accrued gazillions of hours in classes to put toward Anusara certification.

Karen also teaches yoga at other locations including a sacred retreat center in Kentucky. She also wears the hats of graphic designer and office manager here at Shine.



Brenda Villa

Brenda has been studying Anusara at Shine since it opened more than 5 years ago, and has accumulated over 300 hours of study with John Friend, Sianna Sherman and Mitchel Bleier. Her teaching style is dynamic and joyous, and her classes are not to be missed.



David Martin

David Martin has been practicing yoga for 6 years and wonders what he did without it. He began studying in the Iyengar tradition and was drawn to Anusara yoga in 1999 after experiencing its capacity to open the heart and inspire. He has trained as an Anusara teacher for over 300 hours with Senior Anusara teachers Sianna Sherman, Mitchel Bleier, Naime Jezzeny and Sue Elkind. He has also attended 100 hours of workshops with John Friend, Anusara Yoga’s founder. David has had a daily meditation practice for ten years and remains a student of meditation teacher, Sally Kempton.

During the day, David trains and coaches corporate executives and delivers a leadership develop program called Momentum to build their leadership skills and accelerate their successes. David teaches beginning classes at Shine because he loves to share the practice of yoga and because he is grateful to be with the awesome people Shine attracts.



Alan Hundley

Alan Hundley, LMT, LLC, has been working for over 30 years in the area of mind/body integration. He has practiced yoga, dance, tai chi, qigong and other body-centered therapies. Alan is also a massage and Watsu therapist, a wonderful way of releasing the body in warm water. He and his wife Kathleen own and operate a retreat center in Kentucky where small groups can come to re-connect with the sacred in themselves and with the natural world. Donna Covrett

Donna has been a student of yoga since 1974, living in the Sri Rudrananda Ashram for five years studying Kundalini and Tantra yogas. Since then, she’s had the great fortune to study with many gifted teachers in a variety of yoga styles, all of whom continue to inspire her classes and daily life. She brings sincere respect for the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of yoga through her lively classes.



Joy Sherry Clower

Joy is a dedicated affiliated Anusara yoga teacher and has studied with her primary mentors John Friend & Sianna Sherman for many years. Joy translates her thorough knowledge of the Universal Principles of Alignment into her therapeutic and healing work to create classes and workshops that are truly transformative for her students.

Bev Palmer

Bev has been a member of the Shine community since we opened our doors seven years ago. Coming to yoga as the result of a serious condition in her spine, Bev has experienced first-hand the therapeutic benefits of a regular yoga practice. She has studied with all of our teachers at Shine and, in addition, with all of our visiting veteran Anusara yogis, including founder John Friend, Sianna Sherman, Betsy Downing, Desiree Rumbaugh and many more. Bev infuses her classes with the joy and enthusiasm of a heart-centered practice, balanced by competence and a solid understanding of the principles of alignment. She is committed to helping each student find the optimal blueprint for his or her unique physical challenge and to encouraging self-love, compassion and gratitude as the foundations for healing and growth.

Susanne Aziz

Susanne has studied Anusara in great depth and in all aspects from asana to philosophy. Susanne brings her vast experience and clear understanding of Anusara to her classes.



Kim Nietch

Kim Nietch, a former New Jersey yoga studio owner, offers her adept skill as a teacher and yoga practitioner in all of her classes whether teaching here or at her home studio. Her classes flow and move beautifully to her own fabulous music mixes. Her classes are unpredictable, creative and challenging. A perfect opportunity to apply your alignment principles in a more flowing practice style.



Melanie Wright

Melanie is back! Melanie's skill and understanding of the Anusara principles comes from extensive experience in her young years. Her practice is inspiring, and her depth of understanding continues to deepen and unfold.



Jo Griffith

Jo has studied Anusara extensively for many years and has an excellent understanding of the principles, biomechanics and philosophy of Anusara Yoga.
